Seems like over the past year or more twitter and facebook have taken over my status updates. This has led to me paying less attention to my blog which is really not a direction I meant to go in. It just sort of happens that it’s often easier to capture a thought on twitter than to go through the effort of writing a blog post. Well.. that has to stop. I actually have a lot of cool things to write about, I just need to sit down and spend some time writing about them.

I think what I would like to do is split my blog into micro-blog/status updates and actual blog posts. It would be ideal if I could use one interface to post to the both and have the micro-blog funnel to twitter/facebook. We’ll see if that makes sense. In the meantime I’ll just use a tag for the status updates.

I have a backlog of over a dozen articles. I really need to chunk through some of these. If you come around much you’ll notice that I have been posting a bit more. I’ve moved into a new position to run ‘Consulting and Integration’ for NCsoft core technology group. This frees me up to do a lot more thinking and working with various NCsoft teams around the world. Interestingly I don’t think many cross-team problems are super technical. I think the best place to focus when working across groups is in communication. It can be really hard if you have a weird culture baked in around you. Scrum certainly isn’t going to fix anything. I think the real answer is getting face-to-face with people, being kind and respectful and letting your code walk the talk. A lot of executives talk about culture but very few get it right. The companies that do get culture right are the real winners. It may be necessary in some cases to spin off a new company in order to bake a new culture.

Occassionally I have something I want to blog about coding-wise but to explore the topic would require a big post. Usually I can’t find the time to write something of this length at any one time. As a result I have a few unposted articles that I figured I would work on in pieces and post as a big article. Of course this never happens. The articles become big enough that just editing them becomes a time sink. I’m more into coding or gaming than writing usually.

So this started again. I’ve been doing some hobby coding since I finished saint’s row and dead rising (not the good ending yet though) and wanted to get some ideas out about my recent methods.

I sat down to start writing about TDD (test driven development) and decided I needed a new approach. So here it is. This is a blog after all so I’ll try to post little snippets on the topic under an umbrella subject and see if that motivates me better to get the ideas into writing.

It could work.
